ROXANNE G. RUSSELL

HOLDEN and BANGOR Roxanne Russell, beloved wife of the late Harold J. Russell, died peacefully Saturday, July 7, 2007, surrounded by family and friends. Roxanne was born Aug. 17, 1949, in Bangor, the eldest child of George and Agnes (Kelley) Lenfest. She was employed by the Brewer IGA and as a licensed practical nurse with 27 years experience at Bangor Mental Health Institute. She took pride in the services delivered to her patients and felt a special connection with the people with whom she worked and the institution itself. Her hobbies were knitting, quilting, collecting meat grinders and antiquing. In addition, she served as a Meals for Me volunteer, was a member of the Open Support Group for CancerCare of Maine, and was a member of the Women's Circle of the CancerCare of Maine. She loved camping and traveling with her late husband and especially cherished the memories of the time shared at their camp on East Grand Lake. Surviving are her two children, Chris Russell and his wife, Sara, of South Portland and Holly Simmons and her husband, Jason, of Durham; her three dearly loved grandchildren, Emmet, Eric and Eva; three brothers, Ronald Lenfest and his daughter, Melissa, of Holden, William Lenfest of Eddington and Paul Ellingson and his wife, Margrit, of Billerica, Mass.; aunts, Nellie Clarke of Augusta and Bessie Michaud of Old Town; in-laws include, Marlene Light of Stockton Springs, Elizabeth Russell of Bangor, Patricia Begin and her husband, Richard, of Veazie, Ralph Russell and his wife, Carol, of Eddington, Lucille Orcutt and her friend, Gene Freeman, of Brewer and James Russell and his wife, Colleen, of Eddington; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her grandmother, Altie Perkins. The family extends their most sincere thanks to the many friends and relatives who so unselfishly assisted and supported our mother during her prolonged and most courageously fought battle with cancer. We are most grateful. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Brookings Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, with Pastor Maria Guereca, Staff Chaplain at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately after the service. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086 or to the Ronald MacDonald House of Bangor, Inc., 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401.
